Ok, so I've been watching and rewatching "The Shape of Things to Come" on ABC.com and I've noticed that when Ben comes to in the desert there is the oddest noise just at that moment, right after the black LOST title. It's like a sucky, jostling sound that speeds up until we see Ben lying there. That must be a clue as to how Ben got in Tunisia. I thought it might be the sound of his cheeks slapping about, man, I wish I could describe it better.

I thought if others listened as well we might be able to decipher what that kind of noise is; such a bizarre sound. I'm so curious what it could be and what it sounds like to other people. If anyone happens to be rewatching, and finds it interesting, I'd love to hear what you think.

I thought the same thing. Can't define the noise but I thought it was weird.

maybe he was sent there via a vaccume tube device sans tube like the reports that wound up in the "really go nowhere" pile

It did sound a bit like tube travel, if that makes any sense. Like air might have been following a course. Hm, and it didn't seem like he had smacked into the ground really, like fallen from the sky. There's a rattling type sound to it too. Ben was hurt and nauseous, the way I feel when I ride the Gravitron at the carnival.

I assumed he teleported to tunisia, hence weirdness

I assumed he teleported as well, but we don't know by what means that teleportation is done. I thought the sound might give us a clue.

I know it's something where we're going to look back after episodes that explain it and be like, "Oh, they even had that clue in 'The Shape of Things to Come' when Ben lands in the desert." That sucking, bobbly rushing sound.

I guess I'm just curious how it happens, do they jump through a whirling tunnel of light, do they step into a room, a machine? By what process and machinery does one teleport? I can't wait to see how they address this in the show. The way they dealt with time travel, through consciousness travel was just terrific; I'm hoping the teleportation process will not be cheesy either.

I wonder if someone had been standing in the place in the desert if Ben would have landed next to them, and just appeared instantly or if they would have morphed together? He can't be just falling from the sky right? He would have been hurt if that was how it happened. Again, can't wait the episodes that explain this.

what i noticed the most on re-watchings is the way Benry was shaking, vibrating, as he came to on the desert. was this consistent with the guinea pig and Desmond after he time traveled? I think it was.(?) we know Desmond and the other guy had motion sickness.

Hm, good point about the shaking. Eloise did seem to shake as well, and Minkowski seemed to shake some when he was trying to get back. I wonder wonder wonder. I can't wait until this is addressed in the show, how Ben got to the desert.
